Case Study

Lodha World One, Mumbai

About the Project:

Lodha World One, one of the tallest residential towers in India, stands on a sprawling 17.5-acre site in Upper Worli, Mumbai. This architectural marvel reaches a height of 280.2 meters (919 feet) and comprises 76 floors. As of 2024, it is the second-tallest completed building in India.

Requirements:

The ground at the site consists of various solid materials and voids, making the surface permeable and prone to water accumulation. The primary challenge was groundwater, as the project's proximity to the sea resulted in a high water table. This caused the surface to remain wet, preventing proper bonding with the concrete surface and membrane. Additionally, ensuring a smooth surface and filling patches on the PCC was time-consuming but necessary.

Solution by Tikidan:

Due to the basement depth exceeding 25 meters, the underground surface was subject to hydrostatic pressure, compromising weather tightness. To address this, we recommended using HYDROSTOP 4PY-P and HYDROSTOP PLUS 4PY-P, which ensure complete water stoppage and high-quality results. A reliable waterproofing solution was crucial to prevent water ingress through and around the base slab situated 25 meters below ground level. The complex detail at the intersection between the cast slab and the sprayed concrete lining ruled out traditional rear-guard water bars for joint sealing.

We selected the innovative, fully bonded waterproofing membrane system, HYDROSTOP 4PY-P, to prevent water ingress through the base slab. This engineered solution creates a mechanical bond with the concrete and features a unique grid pattern of sealant to prevent any lateral water flow and migration between the membrane and concrete. HYDROSTOP 4PY-P is easy to install, and jointing solutions were applied around the slab perimeter to protect against water ingress at the intersection of the slab and walls.:
